Breast-Feeding Support
General breastfeeding advice and support is available from:
- Your Community Midwife or
- Your Health Visitor at your local GP surgery or Health Centre
Breastfeeding Helpline and Breastfeeding Problems Clinic
Specialist help with breastfeeding is available at Forth Park Hospital,
Kirkcaldy from a specially trained breastfeeding co-ordinator (Irene
Fenske) who will discuss any issues with you, and where necessary arrange
to see you. She can be contacted between 9am and 5pm on 07810 637 767.
For advice outwith these hours, please call the same number and a midwife
from the Breastfeeding Support Helpline, will answer any problems or
questions you may have.
The Breastfeeding Problems Clinic runs on Mondays and Thursdays 9am-1pm
in the Parenthood Room at Forth Park. No appointment is necessary.
Breastfeeding Buddies Project
The Breastfeeding Buddies Project offers information, advice and support
to pregnant and breastfeeding women. The Buddies are volunteer mums with
recent breastfeeding experience who have undertaken training in breastfeeding
management. They can talk to you on the phone, visit you at home or meet
you at a convenient location.
The project currently operates in Glenrothes and the Lochgelly Regeneration
Area (Lochgelly, Lochore, Cardenden, Kelty, Cowdenbeath, Crossgates)
Specialist advice to resolve breastfeeding problems is also available
from the project co-ordinator. If you would like a Buddy, further information
or advice contact Gina Graham, (Breastfeeding Peer Support Co-ordinator)
